Ryan McCormack

Ryan McCormack is Director of Engineering at Sardine. He leads engineering teams while staying hands-on in backend systems, ML inference, and data infrastructure, building the platforms behind Sardine's fraud and risk products.

He joined Sardine in 2022 as a Tech Lead and moved into his current role in 2024. His background is in applied machine learning, data platforms, and fraud and risk systems, and he has grown from senior individual contributor roles into technical leadership while keeping his hands on the work. He is known for technical depth, ownership, and long-term system thinking.

Before Sardine, Ryan led platform data and fraud engineering at Wealthsimple, where he progressed from Software Engineer to Senior Software Engineer to Team Lead over three years. Earlier in his career, he built fraud detection systems in ad tech and at Interac, Canada's payment rails, and worked on preventing abuse in online marketplaces. Ryan also enjoys mentoring and teaching aspiring data scientists and engineers.
